Barbara "Barb" (McGinley) Reynolds

Barbara Reynolds, 78, of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal life on Saturday, January 5, 2019 at 7:34 p.m. in her home with her loving family at her side after a long, faithful and courageous battle with metastatic breast cancer.

Barb was born on March 17, 1940 in Butler, Pennsylvania the daughter of the late James C. and Ann M. Daugherty McGinley.

A 1958 graduate of Ursuline High School, Barb continued her education with a degree in nursing from the St. Elizabeth School of Nursing Class of 1961.  Barb had a calling to be a nurse and was a very good and dedicated one at that.  She worked as a registered nurse at Warren General Hospital for 32 years along with being a nurse at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital for 8 years and St. Joseph Health Care Center in Warren for 2 years.  Barb continued to be the nursing supervisor at Hillside Rehabilitation Hospital for the last 10 years of her career retiring for the last time in 2014.

Barb was proud to be an Irish Catholic and was very active in her church.  She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church where she served as Lector and Eucharistic Minister and oversaw scheduling; she served on Parish Council for several terms; member of 300 club at the church; was a pirohy pincher at the church, was offertory money counter and was a member of the Sts. Cyril & Methodius 50+ Club.  Professionally Barb remained a mentor to many young nurses entering the field or starting their careers and was a member of the Ohio Nursing Association.

Barb was also a faithful and active member of Girls Scouts as a Troop Leader for Troop 171 through her daughters’ tenures.  She was an avid reader, enjoyed the challenges of crossword puzzles and word searches and loved to travel.

Throughout her illness and towards the end of her beautiful transition into eternal life, Barb always remained positive and kept a strong faith.  Her memory will always be remembered and cherished by her two loving daughters Margaret “Maggie” A. (Hector Moral) Reynolds of Galveston, Texas and Maureen “Molly” L. (Dean) Groover with whom she made her home; three brothers James “Mac” McGinley of Orange Beach, Al, Thomas (Joanie) McGinley of Warren and Timothy McGinley of Vienna; a sister Patricia Eastridge of Conowingo, Maryland; a grandson who was the apple of her eye Jackson “JJ” Groover of Warren; nine nephews and ten nieces; numerous cousins; host of friends and surrogate children whom she considered her own.

Besides her parents, Barb was preceded in death by a sister-in-law Darlene McGinley; brother-in-law Earvil “Sonny” Eastridge and nephew Russell “Rusty” Eastridge.

Family will receive friends at the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road NE, Warren, Ohio on Thursday, January 10, 2019 from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m., where the recitation of the Rosary will be said at 4:00 pm. in the funeral home and again on Friday, January 11, 2019 from 8:30 a.m. until 9:20 a.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Melvin Rusnak officiating, will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 11, 2019 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish-SS. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, preceded by closing prayers to be recited at 9:20 a.m. Friday in the funeral home prior in leaving for the church.

Barb will be laid to rest in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.

The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Barb’s name to either Heritage Fund of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish, 2532 Burton St., Warren, Ohio 44484 or to Harbor Light Hospice, 4531 Belmont Ave Unit 9, Youngstown, Ohio 44505.
