Carolyn L. Hipple, 87, of Warren, entered into eternal rest Saturday, December 8, 2018 at home, following a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer. She was born November 30, 1931 in Warren, the youngest daughter of Geza and Helen (Nahalka) Gedeon, and had lived in the area all her life.
The Salutatorian of the June, 1949 Class of Warren G. Harding High School, Carolyn worked in sales for many years at Stambaugh-Thompson, retiring after 25 years of employment. A member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, she was active in the choir, the Ruth Circle, funeral dinners, and Church Council. She also employed her love of gardening and her green thumb to plant and later care for the courtyard garden at the church, up until last year.
Carolyn also was in charge of her class reunions and past-president of the Warren Emblem Club from Elks Lodge 295. She was an avid golfer and a member of Northwood Golf Club.
Fond memories of Carolyn live on with her five children: David Hipple of Preston, Md., Janice (Keith) Smith of Kinsman, Jodi (Thomas) Day of Prescott, Ariz., Judy (Curt) Moser of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Jacquie Mest of Kent; seven grandchildren: Kristina, Travis, Benjamin, Lonnie, Ted, Joshua, and Thomas; five great-grandchildren: Erica, Troy, Stacia, Charlee, and Mason; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her dear husband of nearly 70 years, Waldo D. Hipple, whom she married December 24, 1949 and who passed away July 11, 2018; a grandson, Matthew; six sisters: Irma Cox, Helen Check, Joanie Gedeon, Mary Wilson, Elizabeth Gedeon, and Betty Gedeon; and four brothers: Ted, Rudy, Arthur, and Ernie Gedeon.
The family would like to thank Southern Care Hospice for their loving care and comfort.
Services are 11:00 am Monday, December 17, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Church, 2860 East Market Street, Warren, with Rev. Ann Marie Perkins officiating. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Burial Park. Friends may call 3:00 to 5:00 pm Sunday, December 16 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, and 10:00 to 11:00 am Monday at the church.
