Deane Hendrick Bassett, 85, of Howland, passed away peacefully Tuesday, January 14, 2020 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital in Warren. He was born April 10, 1934 in Newton, Mass., the son of Deane L. and Phyllis (Gammons) Bassett, and had lived in Ohio since the early 1960s.
Deane graduated from high school in New Hampshire before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from General Motors after thirty-five years of employment. He was an avid ham radio operator and enjoyed music.
He is sadly missed by his beloved wife of nearly sixty-three years, Paulette J. (Muller) Bassett, whom he married in Nancy, France on May 25, 1957; five daughters: Marjorie Kirk (Thomas) of Warren, Pierrette Scanavino of Atlanta, Ga., Patricia Hurteau of Athens, Ga., Carol Miller (Fred) of Orlando, Fla., and Nancy Malires (Michael) of Marietta, Ga.; seven grandsons; two granddaughters; ten great-grandchildren; and a sister, Joy Bassett of Arizona.
His parents precede him in death.
Per his request, services are private. Cremation is taking place.
