Frederick "Fred" Tarasi

Frederick “Fred” Tarasi, 83, of Hubbard, entered into eternal life on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 7:00 a.m. in Windsor House at Liberty Health Care Center with his loving family at his side.

Fred was born on July 17, 1935 in Allison Park, Pennsylvania the son of the late Frank and Esther Seibold Tarasi and was a graduate of Kittaning High School.

In his earlier years, Fred worked as a news anchor for WFMJ TV21 in Youngstown and most recently was a courier for Brinks for the last 10 years.  He was also owner of Cornersburg Video.

He enjoyed fishing and was quite the musician with talent playing guitar, harmonica and the dolcimer.  Fred played in various and local community playhouses and theaters including the Salem Community Theatre.

Fred was of the Catholic faith and was very devoted to his church of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Hubbard.

Fred is survived by his wife the former Esther Fry whom he married on November 15, 1992; sons Timothy (Peggy) Tarasi of Canfield, Frederick Tarasi of Florida and Marc (Tracy) Gillette of New Middletown; daughters Robin Gillette of Canfield and Kelly Gillette of Lincoln, Nebraska; and three grandchildren Brittany Bukovac and Paityn and Paige Blinsky.

Besides his parents, Fred was preceded in death by a brother Frank “Sonny” Tarasi and sisters Carolyn and Jean.

Private Services will take place on Monday, January 7, 2019 in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home with Fr. Michael A. Swierz officiating.  Burial will follow in Resurrection Cemetery in Austintown.
