Maria Lambea, 85, of Howland, entered eternal life on Sunday, January 20, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. in her home surrounded by her loving family and personal caregivers Kim, Lenett, Jessica and Denise under the comforting care of hospice.
Maria was born on February 18, 1933 in Quintana, de la Serena, Spain, the daughter of the late Juan and Visitacion Fernandez and came to the United States in 1954.
She studied English Warren G. Harding High School and became a United States Citizen. Maria was a homemaker and a member of St. William Catholic Church in Champion.
Maria was a member of the Ohio Star Quilters and was recognized as 1st place state winner. She enjoyed sewing and traveling. She was a member of Howland Scope and went on many bus trips with the organization along with her husband. Most importantly, Maria enjoyed taking care of her family and especially her grandchildren.
Maria is survived by her husband Anthony “Tony” Lambea whom she married on May 25, 1953, two daughters Anna Stamolis of Champion; and Lisa (John) Morello of Howland; grandchildren Melissa (Bradley) Kady of Ft. Lauderdale; Michelle (Chad) Fritz of Columbus; John Morello of Sacramento; Emily Morello of Tampa; Elisa Morello of Howland; and three great grandchildren Micah and Luca Fritz and Cameron Kady. She is also survived by three sisters Ana Buckner of Warren, Emilia Nogales of Champion and Laly Fernandez (Dr. Steven) Silverstein of Ft. Lauderdale and by many nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Maria was preceded in death by an infant son Anthony Lambea; daughter Linda Lambea; a brother Domingo Fernandez and a son-in-law Philip Stamolis.
Family will receive friends on Friday, January 25, 2019 from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home.
A Funeral Service will take place on Friday, January 25, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home with entombment to follow in Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Maria’s name to either MVI Hospice 4891 Belmont Ave, Youngstown, Ohio 44505 or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
