Mary G. DiVieste, 89, of Howland, entered into eternal life on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 8:00 p.m. at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Home in Howland under the comforting care of hospice.
Mary was born on December 29, 1929 in Warren the daughter of the late Caesar and Josephine Monaca Toto and was a lifelong area resident.
She attended Howland Schools. Most of her adult life, Mary was a homemaker. She also worked for the former Golden Gate restaurant in Warren.
Mary was a devout catholic and was dedicated to the Blessed Mother saying her prayers and rosary faithfully. She was a life long member of the former St. Joseph Catholic Church on North Street and is currently a member of the now St. John Paul II Parish in Warren.
Mary is survived by her husband Valentino DiVieste Sr., whom she married on June 4, 1964; a son Valentino (Erika) DiVieste of Warren; a daughter Mary M. (Rick Clonch) DiVieste of Newton Falls; a sister Theresa (Joe) DiVieste of Cortland and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law Nicholas and Lucille Toto.
Private calling hours will take place.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 21, 2019 in St. John Paul II Parish, 420 North St. NW, Warren, with Fr. Christopher Henyk officiating. EVERYONE IS ASKED TO PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH.
Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
The family would like to express a heartfelt thankyou to all of the nurses and caring staff at Shepherd of the Valley in Howland for all their care shown to Mary and the family and to Hospice of the Valley for the care they gave to Mary and allowing her final days to be peaceful and comforting.
