Mary E. Leonard

Mary E. Leonard, 91, of Warren, entered into eternal rest Sunday, November 25, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.  She was born July 7, 1927 in Uniontown, Ala., the daughter of Eli and Mattie L. (Fikes) Powell, and had lived in Ohio since 1987.

Mary worked for the University of Alabama-Birmingham for many years.  She attended Second Baptist Church and enjoyed cleaning, cooking, gardening, travelling to her soccer games, and most of all, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Fond memories of Mary live on with her three children: Bernice Carroll of Warren, Blannie Gibbs of Georgia, and Clarence B (Ruth) Mason of Warren; eleven grandchildren: Delores, Patricia, Sherry, Faith, Wanda, Frank, Derrick, Deidra, Gregory, Whitney, and Brittany; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mammie and Mattie.

Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, L.D. Leonard; three children: Alberta Powell, Daniel L Powell, and Mary L Leonard; two sisters, Edna and Thelma; and five brothers: Theo, Eli, Joe, Henry, and Ben.   

Services are 11:00 am Saturday, December 1, 2018 at York Avenue Church of God, 872 York Avenue S.W., Warren, Ohio 44485,  Friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 am Saturday at the church.  The Repast will follow the service at Salvatore’s Italian Grill, 8720 East Market Street, Warren, Ohio 44484. Interment will be 10:30 am Monday, December 3 at Pine Knoll Cemetery.
