Mustafa Ibrahim Abdul-Aziz, formerly known as James D. Sanford, 74, of Warren, entered into eternal rest Friday, January 4, 2019. He was born December 7, 1944 in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Donald Sanford and Helen (Coleman) Sanford Spring.
During his career, Mustafa Abdul-Aziz provided consultancy and training services in Engineering & Management to various companies and institutions in the United States, South America, South Pacific and the Middle East.
Mustafa attended Warren G. Harding and was highly recognized as a key football player of the Harding Panthers and the Arkansas Razorback team. He later graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Electrical Mechanical Engineering from The University Of Arkansas and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harding College. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
Mustafa is survived by his wife Sabria (Haoui) Abdul-Aziz, his two sons, Emir A. Abdul-Aziz of Ohio State University, and Jamel Abdul-Aziz of Austin,Texas daughters, Khadija and Fatiha Abdul-Aziz of Warren, Alethea Sanford of Virginia, Latonya Sanford of Dallas Texas, Rachel Sanford of Austin, Texas, nineteen grandchildren, Ziad, Yazmeen, Ameen, Mallick, Morroco, Kian and Kyla Abdul-Aziz, Valencia, Khiry, Kiara, Parrish, Tokiana, Eugene, De'asia, Da'raeveon, Leviticus, Erika, Dominique, Ashanti Sister Helene Hugley, brother, Melvene Sanford, nephews Timothy Sanford, Charles Hugley, Christian and Karime Thoma and nieces Glenda Hugley and Rayvion Sanford.
Mustafa's parents Donald R. Sanford and Helen Coleman-Springs preceded his death.
Mustafa was a man of God.
Services are 7:00 pm Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with his son, Emir Abdul-Aziz, officiating. Friends may call 6:00 to 7:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will take place at 10:15 am Friday, January 11 at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
