Arlene M. Barkan

Warren - Arlene M. Barkan, 75, passed away February 28, 2023, after an extended illness. She was born on June 20, 1947, to the late Herman and Gladys Barkan.

She graduated in 1965 from Tuslaw High in Massillon and attended Kent State University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in education and Master’s degrees in music and special education. She subsequently taught music and children with learning disabilities in Warren city schools.

She is survived by her sister Kathleen Clouse-Strebel and husband Klaus of Olney, MD; and her brother Richard C. Barkan and wife Elaine of East Canton, OH. She is also survived by two nieces, Mary Beth Strebel and Jane Barkan, nephew Richard C. Barkan, and nephew Christopher Barkan and wife Lindsey, along with grand-nephews Lucas, Landon and Logan Barkan.

She was preceded in death by her mother Gladys Barkan, her father Herman Barkan, and sister Lorraine Barkan.

Inurnment will take place on Friday, March 17th at 1:00 PM with immediate family members at Brookfield Cemetery, 11400 Shaefer St. SW, Massillon, OH 44647.

Visitation with family will be held at Living Lord Lutheran Church in Warren at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 18th, followed by a memorial service at 10:30 AM.
