Cynthia Michael Obituary

Cynthia Elizabeth (Smith) Michael, born September 20, 1948, departed this life the morning of May 23, 2023. She was surrounded with love by her family, in her home.

Cindy was the youngest daughter of George H. and Clare C. Smith, who long preceded her in death.

Raised in Warren, OH, Cindy was a graduate from Warren G. Harding High School.  In her early years, she enjoyed the performing arts, as she sang and played the tambourine in a local band and performed in plays at Trumbull New Theater, with her parents.

In later years, Cindy was an award-winning sales professional when she sold furniture at JCPenney and Dotson Furniture, Niles, OH. She then went on to be co-owner of Michael’s Tool Service, with her husband, and served as Vice President and Treasurer.

Cindy and Bob moved to Burghill, OH, in 1988, where they enjoyed the serenity of the country life.  For many years, they also owned the “lake house” at Pymatuning Lake, her most beloved place on earth. Many hosted cookouts, friends and family, boating on their pontoon and watching sunsets.

She is survived by her husband, Robert, who she joined in marriage on October 16, 1978; daughter Kelley Lynne Younkins and her husband, Ken; her stepdaughter, Julie Michael Smith and grandson, Tobias Michael Smith; and sister, Lynne Lightner.

The joy of her life was her family and her fur babies. Cindy loved and doted on her dogs.  Many dogs were the center of her attention and affection over her lifetime, and she is survived by Jade, her faithful companion, who stayed by her side until the end.

A graveside ceremony will be held on Friday, June 2, 2023, at 11AM, at Crown Hill Burial Park in Vienna, OH, with her family. Friends are welcomed to join the ceremony.

The family wishes to express their utmost heart-felt appreciation to her caregivers, Shirley Consiglio and Sirretta Hornyak, who became very close friends to Cindy and her family. Also, a special thank you to Traditions Health Hospice nurses and aides, Pastor Brett and Hope Center for Cancer Care, Dr. Lori Hemrock.

Memorial donations may be made, in Cindy’s honor, to the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County, 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Road, Vienna, OH  44473.
