Helen L. Bugos, 87, of Warren, entered peacefully into eternal life Thursday, June 18, 2020 at 7:17 a.m. in Windsor House at Champion following a bout with pneumonia.
Helen was born October 20, 1932 in Youngstown the daughter of the late Steve and Anastasia (Bezjak) Zubrinich and was a graduate of South High January Class of 1951.
On June 21, 1958, Helen married Leonard R. Bugos and they were married for 61 years before his passing on December 11, 2019.
Following her marriage, Helen worked for a short time at General Electric in Youngstown and then worked as a noon aide at Secrest Elementary School in Warren for 17 years.
Helen was a longtime member before its closing of St. Pius X Catholic Church where she was active in volunteering at their BINGO. She was also a member of the Warren Slovak Club Auxiliary for 35 years working the seasonal fish fry. Helen enjoyed playing bingo, cards and taking her chance at the casinos and scratch off lottery tickets. She was a wonderful cook, baker and gardener and enjoyed her Polka music. Helen was loving, warm, kind, funny and giving to everyone she met. She was one of the most genuinely honest people you would ever meet.
She was a member of St. John Paul II Parish in Warren.
Helen is survived by three sons Michael (Lynn Alderman) Bugos of Cortland, Andrew (Peggy Jordan) of Warren and Edward (Monica) Bugos of Niles; seven grandchildren Eric, Sara, Catie, Ashley, Alexis, Miranda and Marissa Bugos and two step-grandchildren Ricky and Jeremy Jordan. Helen is also survived by a sister Margaret Stevenson of Youngstown and a sister-in-law Peggy Zubrinich of Youngstown.
Besides her parents, Helen was preceded in death by an infant daughter Theresa Bugos; and two brothers John and Steve Zubrinich.
Calling hours will take place on Wednesday, June 24, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:50 a.m. in the Gathering Space of Blessed Sacrament Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020 in Blessed Sacrament Church, 3020 Reeves Road NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 with Father J. Patrick Manning, Phd, officiating.
Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may take the form of donations in Helen’s name to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The family would like to thank all of the caring staff at Windsor House at Champion for all of the compassion and care that was given to Helen during her time with them and especially over these last few months.
