Margaret Ann Berwald

BRISTOLVILLE – Margaret Ann “Maggie” Berwald, age 74, entered into eternal rest Saturday, September 26, 2020 at the Cleveland Clinic.  She was born February 14, 1946 in Pasadena, Calif., the daughter of Robert and Nancy (Nash) Shanklin, moving to Ohio when she was young.

Maggie graduated from Lakewood High School and Kent State University before beginning her career as an English and French teacher, and taught in Painesville Riverside, Champion, Bristol, and Badger schools.  She was active with the American Institute for Foreign Study and traveled with them to France, Spain, and Greece.  She served eight years on the TCTC school board and six years on the Bristol school board.

Maggie enjoyed genealogy, travel, theater, reading, current events, and later in life collected art, with a special interest in the enamel over copper work of Ed Winter, and other photos and paintings.

Precious memories of Maggie live on with her loving husband of fifty-one years, John H. Berwald, whom she married June 14, 1969; two sons, Bradley John Berwald of Yardley, Pa. and Kevin Bernard Berwald (Kristen) of Snoqualmie, Wash.; and five grandchildren: Kaya Ann Berwald, Herrick Robert Berwald, Tyler Lucas Berwald, Benjamin Drew Berwald, and Isabelle Lucia Berwald;

Her parents precede her in death.

Services are 11:00 am Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, with Rev. Kenneth Hopkins officiating. Interment will follow at Sager Cemetery in Bristolville. Friends may call 10:00 to 11:00 am Wednesday at the funeral home.  Masks are required, and social distancing will be observed.
