Michael B. Giovannone, 63, of Lordstown, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 13, 2021 at 4:10 a.m. at Hospice House in Poland with his loving family and friends at his side.
Mike was born Saturday, January 7, 1958 in Warren the son of the late Benjamin and Hazel Gregory Giovannone and was a lifelong area resident.
He was a graduate of Lordstown High School and attended Pittsburgh Rosedale College with training in transmission building and repair.
A Veteran of the United States Army, Mike entered active service in 1982 at Fort Polk, Louisiana, where he was a tank mechanic. He received an honorable discharge in 1985 with the rank of Private 1st Class.
Mike was employed with General Motors for the last 26 years.
He loved to ride his Harley Davidson, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and loved to be on his tractor doing farm work. Most importantly, Mike enjoyed being with and spending time with his family and friends.
Mike is survived by his wife of 28 years the former Teresa Angelo, whom he married on April 3, 1993; three sisters Carolyn Griffin of Lordstown, Brenda Estlack of Wilmington, NC and Diane (Terry) Heeter of Vienna; and by three nephews Chris Giovannone and Tyler and Travis Heeter.
Besides his parents, Mike was preceded in death by a brother Ralph Giovannone and by a sister Sharon Furbee.
Family will receive friends on Sunday, June 20, 2021 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where a funeral service will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home with Mike’s cousin, Rev. Ronald Giovannone, officiating.
Burial will take place in Lordstown Village Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Mike’s name to Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
