Michael Mosko Obituary

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Michael J. Mosko, 89, announces his passing on Friday, January 1, 2021.  Michael entered Eternal Rest at Trumbull Regional Medical Center from a short non COVID-19 illness.

Michael was the third of five children born to Anthony and Mary T. Mosko.  He parents were both proud and hard-working immigrants.  He was a lifelong resident of Warren and a graduate of St. Mary’s High School.

After graduation, Michael entered the United States Marines and served meritoriously in the Korean War.

Upon returning from his military service, he became a Master Carpenter.  Michael was a very proud 64-year member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. Michael was also a member of the International Whistlers Guild.  He favorite tune to whistle was “Jingle Bells”.

He was also an active parishioner of SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church in Warren.  During his working career, he helped to build the school and Infant of Prague Manor Retirement Home for the Parish.

Michael loved to be involved in family projects and day-to-day events.  Michael especially enjoyed family picnics at the lake and eating ice-cream.  He was an avid westerns watcher, most notably those starring James Arness as Matt Dillon.  He also liked playing cards, games and doing puzzle books.

However, Michael always felt that his life’s greatest accomplishment with his dear wife Doris was raising their eight children.  Michael and Doris were very loving, devoted, self-sacrificing and generous parents!  His surviving children are Mary (Dennis), Michael A. (Karen), Ronald (his loving, constant care giver and companion with whom Dad made his home), Gregory, Joyce, Anita (Don) and Edward.  Their proud legacy also lives on in their eighteen grandchildren and their spouses.  Along with eleven great-grandchildren, they will be honored in generations to come.  Also surviving are many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Michael was preceded in death by his beloved wife Doris, son David, and his parents.  He missed his mother dearly for 80 years.  He was heartbroken by losing her at such a young age.  He also joins sisters Francie, Ann, Catherine and a brother Jack and their spouses.

The Mosko family has entrusted the care of Michael to the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, where calling hours will take place on Sunday, January 24, 2021 from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. in the funeral home.  A Panachida Service will be recited at 4:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held privately for the family in SS. Peter & Paul Byzantine Catholic Church.

Burial will follow in SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery, Warren, Ohio next to his beloved wife Doris and son David.

The family, funeral home and church will be practicing social distancing and proper health protocols. Due to the continued and increasing spread of Covid-19, the 6-foot social distancing rule will be honored, and all guests, must wear a mask. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that all visitors exit the funeral home after paying their respects to the family.  Please do not linger.

The Mosko family understands if you feel uncomfortable or if you are unable to attend, please keep them and Michael in your thoughts and prayers.

Michael was devoted to The Blessed Mother, praying the Rosary daily.  Supporting Vocations was dear to his heart and is fitting to ask that memorial contributions therefore be made in Michael’s name to either Byzantine Benedictine Sister’s 169 Kenmore NE, Warren, Ohio 44483 or to Sisters of Saint Basil, Mt. Macrina, 500 West Main St., Uniontown, PA15407-2602.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home, 962 North Road, NE, Warren, Ohio 44483, 330-394-6200. Dedicated to Serving Your Loved Ones. This obituary may be viewed, and condolences sent to www.statonborowskifuneralhome.com.
