Ronald W. “Ron” Belak, 78, of Howland Township, entered peacefully into eternal life on Holy Thursday, April 1, 2021 at 21:17 p.m. in his home after becoming ill prior in leaving for church earlier in the day.
Ron was born Wednesday, June 17, 1942 in Warren the son of the late Walter A. and Frances “Fran” Tomse Belak and was a lifelong area resident.
Ron was a graduate of Howland High School and furthered his education with a degree in education from Kent State University and would go on to teach high school math at Bloomfield High School.
A veteran of the United States Navy. He received the National Defense Service Medal and was awarded an Honorable discharge on August 1, 1967.
Ron was a devout catholic and said the rosary daily. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Warren and a member of its 400 Club.
He enjoyed golfing especially at his favorite golf destination of Monterey California. Ron enjoyed traveling yearly to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons National Parks. He also was a lover of the Cleveland Indians and Browns.
He is survived by his brother Ted (Cynthia) Belak of Westlake Village, California; and by a niece and nephew Andrew Belak and Jennifer Belak.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, April 8, 2021 from 9:00 a.m. until 9:50 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial, with Fr. Frantisek Katrinak officiating, will be offered at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 8, 2021 in the church.
Burial will follow in All Souls Cemetery in Cortland.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions take the form of donations in Ron’s name to the Restoration Fund of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 232 Seneca St. NE, Warren, Ohio 44481.
