Rudolph "Rudy" Harsany Obituary

Rudolph S. Harsany, 75, of Warren, passed away Thursday, February 25, 2021 at 7:39 p.m. at Hospice House in Poland.

Rudy was born on Friday, May 25, 1945 in Cleveland, Ohio the son of the late Rudolph and Helen Orban Harsany.

He was a graduate of Cleveland West Tech.

A Veteran of the United States Air Force, Rudy served his country faithfully and honorably during the Vietnam War with the 509th Security Police Squadron.  He was awarded serval decorations and medals and was honorably discharged on October 25, 1968 with the rank of Sergeant.

Rudy worked until its closing for Superior Printing in Warren and then worked at and retired from Exal Aluminum Extrusion.

Rudy was a member Covenant Presbyterian Church in Warren.

He was also a member of the VFW Post 1090 in Warren, DAV, Howland American Legion Post 700, 40 & 8, and the Vietnam Veterans of America.  Rudy enjoyed following and rooting for the Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns.  The highlight of his latter years was rooting for and watching his grandchildren in all the sporting endeavors.

Rudy was married on June 27, 1970 at West Side Hungarian Reformed Church in Cleveland to the former Myra Gail Jones and they were married for 39 years until her passing on June 11, 2010.

Rudy is survived by two sons Rudolph A. and Jonathan W. (Cassandra) of Warren; a brother Michael (Trish) of Parma; grandchildren Jacob, Austin, Claire, and Mathew and by his special and close friend Nancy Kowach of Howland.

Family will receive friends on Monday, March 1, 2021 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the funeral home.

A Funeral Service, with Rev. Dr. David Black officiating, will take place at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2021 in the Staton-Borowski Funeral Home. 

Burial with full military honors will follow in Meadow Brook Memorial Park in Champion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions take the form of donations in Rudy’s name to Hospice of the Valley, 979 Tibbetts Wick Road Ste A, Girard, Ohio 44420.

The family, and funeral home will all be practicing social distancing and proper health protocols. Due to the continued and increasing spread of Covid-19, the 6-foot social distancing rule will be honored, and all guests, must wear a mask. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that all visitors exit the funeral home after paying their respects to the family.  Please do not linger.
